The 2024-2025 season starts on September 21 with
ACQUIESCENT: The FRENCH BAROQUE in CHINA

Curated and performed by harpsichordist Louise Hung assisted by colleagues Jin Cho, traverso, violist Matt Antal and cellist Margaret Jordan-Gay, this immersive program juxtaposes music from 18th-century France by Jean-Philippe Rameau and Michel Blavet with first-hand accounts of how this music was received at the 18th-century Chinese Imperial Court. The alternating senses of time and location will be enhanced by projected visuals by Louise and soundscapes by Matt. An intriguing and thought-provoking exploration of the ideas of music and ‘otherness’ – and some wonderful music!
